Dianne Owens
Grant Writer
Dianne joined United Way of Florence County bringing decades of experience in writing, communications, and nonprofit support. A seasoned journalist and editor, she has worked for multiple South Carolina newspapers and served as a grant writer and publicist for the City of Marion. Most recently, she served as a tutor, PT program coordinator and student services coordinator at the Florence Area Literacy Council, where she oversaw student progress in their assigned literacy programs and worked to help adults overcome long-standing obstacles to learning.
Beyond her professional work, Dianne is a passionate storyteller and author, with two published books and a background in public relations. A South Carolina native, she and her husband, Dusty, live on their family farm, where they enjoy history, gardening, and caring for their many animals. Dianne and Dusty have two daughters, lay claim to their husbands, and are blessed with three nearly grown grandchildren.
