COLLECTIVE IMPACT GRANTS

OUR NEW COLLECTIVE IMPACT MODEL

In 2022, we set out on a new path, one that takes us directly to where help is needed most. For decades, United Way of Florence County operated under the traditional Community Chest model, distributing funds broadly across local organizations but without a structured strategy tied to countywide goals. While that model supported many good programs, it lacked a unified direction for long-term impact.

Today, we are proud to share that we have fully transitioned into our Collective Impact Funding Model, bringing clarity, strategy, and purpose to how we invest in our community. Through this approach, United Way of Florence County partners intentionally with nonprofits, local businesses, and community members to address the most pressing needs and create coordinated, lasting change across Florence County.

HOW WE IDENTIFIED COMMUNITY NEEDS

Our community priorities were identified through a comprehensive, countywide needs assessment grounded in both data and lived experience. This process was informed by 770+ community survey responses, 100+ community conversations attendees, and real-time data from our 211 information and referral service, allowing us to see where families are struggling most and where gaps in services exist. Together, this information helped us identify the most urgent needs facing Florence County today.

Through this assessment, we established priority focus areas centered on Youth Opportunity (kindergarten readiness and youth activities), Healthy Community (mental health), and Financial Security (home rehabilitation and basic needs). These priorities guide our Collective Impact grants, ensuring resources are aligned with the issues that matter most to Florence County.

Our next application cycle will open on January 22, 2026. Stay tuned for more details.
