why it matters
Safe, stable housing is essential to health and quality of life, but for many Florence County residents, maintaining a home is out of reach. Nearly half of our households live below the ALICE threshold, and 46.1% of renters are cost-burdened, leaving little ability to address critical repairs.
Home rehabilitation needs increased by 13% between 2021 and 2022, yet only eight homes were repaired in 2023. Without support, minor issues become major risks. Investing in home rehabilitation helps physically and financially affected residents remain safely housed and prevents unnecessary displacement.
