2023 VITA Program

The VITA program is sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to help older, disabled, non-English speaking, or low-income taxpayers who need assistance and for whom professional tax preparation may be out of reach.

United Way of Florence County VITA tax program is currently closed. 

Qualifications:

  • Florence County resident

  • Low-to-moderate income individuals/families with an annual income of less than $60,000 a year.

  • Individuals MUST have a social security number (our site will not handle ITIN/Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers)

  • No business taxes will be completed.

Our VITA site hours:

  • By appointment only, Monday-Thursday from 1-4 PM.

  • Please note that this is strictly a volunteer-based program, so appointment availability may be limited due to the availability of volunteers. 

What You Need to Bring:

  • Social Security Card for yourself and any spouses and/or dependents

  • Proof of identification (photo ID)

  • Birth dates for yourself and any spouses and/or dependents

  • Wage and earning statements (W2, W2-G, 1099-R, 1099-Misc) from all employers

  • Interest and dividend statements from banks (Forms 1099)

  • Health Insurance Information or Exemption Certificate

  • A copy of last year’s federal and state returns, if available

  • If you want to direct deposit your return, we will need your bank account number and routing number (a blank check works)

  • If you are filling a joint return with your spouse, your spouse needs to come with you

Through a partnership with United Way and H&R Block, individuals with a simple tax return can file their Federal and State returns online for FREE through MyFreeTaxes.com. For more information, please click here.
