MyFreeTaxes allows taxpayers, regardless of income, to prepare their own returns using a simple step-by-step process that includes free telephone, email and online chat support from IRS-certified specialists. Through a partnership with United Way and H&R Block, MyFreeTaxes lets everyone with a simple return file their federal and state taxes for free.
How Do You Access It?
To access MyFreeTaxes, go to MyFreeTaxes.com either on a computer or mobile device. From there, you will need to create a free H&R Block account. To ensure that you are using the free account, look for the MyFreeTaxes logo in the top-left of your screen after the account is created.

How Does It Work?
Once you create your free account, all you will need to start filing is your W-2 form. Your W-2 can be entered manually or you can upload a photo of it from your phone to make completing your return even easier. Returns do not need to be completed in one sitting, so you can save your work and go back to it when you have time.

Is It Really Free?
Yes! If you have a simple tax return, you can file for free, no matter your income level. If your return requires a Schedule C, D, or E, your return would not be considered simple and would not be eligible for the service.
