The measure of a community is how well it treats the less fortunate. By donating to the United Way of Florence County, you are able to help more people than a gift to a single non-profit can. The United Way is working to advance the common good by focusing on the needs in the education, health, financial stability, special needs, youth, and emergency services sectors. These are the building blocks for a good life - a complete education, access to basic human needs, personal and professional growth, a positive childhood, a moment to breathe a sigh of relief.
To determine in which way our funds will impact our community, a group of dedicated, local volunteers, known as the Community Investment Committee, looks for gaps and duplications in local services to ensure our dollars go to not only the needs that everyone is aware of, but also to the needs that are less obvious. Programs and Agencies are also monitored to ensure that they are effective, meet current community needs, and are financially stable and sustainable.
