Our Mission and Vision
To help positively impact the needs of Florence County, we fund 30 programs through 22 local non-profits that are providing services in the education, youth, health, special needs, financial stability, and emergency service sectors. To fund these programs, we raise money through our annual campaign by holding company campaigns in local businesses, hosting fundraisers, and collecting individual donations. Beyond our work in fundraising, the United Way of Florence County also has the United Way 211 program to connect individuals in need with help, and the Volunteer Corps program for those interested in volunteering with non-profits.
Creating Opportunities for a Better Life for All
The United Way is a $5 billion global enterprise - recognized by 98% of all Americans - but organized and operated at a community level, making it accessible to you. We're big and we're small at the same time. Each United Way is independently governed by a local volunteer board, in order to best meet our local needs and opportunities. We must, however, adhere to a stringent set of membership standards that focus on governance, ethics, financial management and general operations.
The United Way of Florence County has been a cornerstone of the social service sector in Florence County for over 65 years. In a nutshell, the United Way of Florence County brings together citizens, community leaders, business, the faith-based community, local government, non-profit organizations, and many more to ensure measurable results on issues that require collective, not just individual, actions are delivered. Why? Because everyone deserves opportunities to have a good life: a complete education, access to basic human needs, personal and professional growth, a positive childhood, a moment to breathe a sigh of relief.
Last year, our federated fundraising efforts ensured that over $850,000 worth of services were available in the health, income, education, youth, emergency, and special needs sectors of our community. A gift to the United Way of Florence County is an investment in our community. With your continued support, we do what no single donor or agency can do alone.
