Seminar Pint Night Raises $180 for United Way

Seminar Brewing hosted their second Pint Night fundraiser to benefit the United Way of Florence County on Friday, August 30th. For every pint sold during the event, Seminar would donate $1 to the United Way's 2019-2020 campaign. Through the number of pints sold and through individual donations, Seminar Brewing raised over $180 for the United Way during the fundraiser! read more

Results from the 2019 Day of Caring

Over 400 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work at local non-profits across Florence on Friday, September 20, 2019 as part of the United Way of Florence County’s annual Day of Caring event. Now in its 27th year, the UWFC’s Day of Caring event brings together volunteers from local companies, organizations, and groups to give back to their community by volunteering. During Friday’s event, a record number of 40 companies and groups had volunteers completing over 79 volunteer projects. read more

United Way 211 Report for July 2019

During the month of July, the United Way 211 line for Florence County had 149 calls with 317 referrals made. That is an increase of over double the amount of calls and referrals made in June. Of those referrals, the Top 3 requests were for utilities assistance, rental assistance, and food pantries and the Top 3 providers were Lighthouse Ministries, The Salvation Army, and the Pee Dee Community Action Agency. UWFC Office Closed for Hurricane Dorian

The United Way of Florence County office will be closed for a half day today (Wednesday the 4th) and all day Thursday (the 5th). We will re-open at 10:00am on Friday the 6th. read more

Pee Dee Coalition's Breaking Free in Need of Sponsors, Participants, & Volunteers

This fall, in celebration of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Pee Dee Coalition will host its 7th Annual Breaking Free event on Saturday, September 28th, to support the Coalition’s Emergency Safe Shelter in Florence.  The Pee Dee Coalition– is a non-profit, volunteer organization dedicated to the reduction of sexual assault, family violence, and child abuse and to serving the needs of victims. With your support, we can help victims “break free” of domestic violence and take another important step toward the Coalition’s vision of making this a safer, more compassionate community. read more

United Way Still in Need of Volunteers for Day of Caring

August 30, 2019

The United Way of Florence County's annual Day of Caring event has brought together local non-profits and volunteers to complete service projects that help better our community and the lives of those who live here for 27 years. Over 360 volunteers completed nearly 80 projects during the 2018 Day of Caring, and the United Way of Florence County hopes to top those numbers on Friday, September 20th for the 2019 Day of Caring. However, there are currently dozens of projects still in need of volunteers. read more
