The United Way of Florence County is very excited for the turnout we had for our first blood drive with the American Red Cross-Eastern SC Chapter and WMBF News on Wednesday, August 7th.

During our drive, we had 17 individuals donate and collected 19 pints of blood. Each pint of blood can potentially save the lives of up to three individuals, so through the pints that were donated, we could potentially help save the lives of 57 individuals! This is incredibly exciting news considering that the American Red Cross is currently facing a blood emergency and has a limited supply of all blood types.

A huge thank you to all 19 of our donors and anyone who helped get the word out about our drive. If you didn't get a chance to donate, but would still like to, you can check for upcoming blood drives or visit a local blood center by going to and inputting your zip code.
