Celebrate #GivingTuesday with United Way!
There's Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and now #GivingTuesday. #GivingTuesday was created seven years ago to encourage individuals to take a break from the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping and remember to support those that are helping others. Today, there are a few different ways to you can help us celebrate #GivingTuesday by supporting United Way and the Florence County community.

1. The GivingTuesdayPeeDee Open House and Donation Station
We are very excited to be a part of the #GivingTuesdayPeeDee again this year and we hope you can join us today at the GivingTuesday Pee Dee Donation Station and Open House at the Waters Building in Downtown Florence. You can stop by any time between 3:00pm and 7:00pm to visit us and 49 other great local non-profits. We'll be sharing information about United Way, collecting donations of gift wrapping supplies, giving away some small prizes, and raffling off one big prize.
2. Monetary Gifts
On #GivingTuesday, giving a monetary donation is one of the best ways to help a non-profit fulfill their mission. When you give to the United Way, we add that donation into our annual campaign that helps fund services and programs at our seventeen partner agencies listed below. Through your donations last year, we were able to help over 26,000 people in need in Florence County and this year, we want to help even more. But to do that, we need your help. You can make a donation online here or by bringing cash or check to our table at the Donation station. For every dollar you donate to us today, whether online or at the Donation Station, you'll be entered to win the prize package featured below.

3. Physical Gifts
Along with monetary gifts, you can also celebrate #GivingTuesday by giving physical donations. In December, we'll be wrapping gifts at Magnolia Mall as a fundraiser for our campaign and we need lots of gift wrapping supplies! We'll be collecting wrapping paper, boxes, tape, and bows at the Donation Station today. If you can't make it to the event, you're welcome to drop off any supplies at our office (1621 W. Palmetto Street in Florence) between now and Christmas.

4. Volunteer
Another great gift to give on #GivingTuesday is the gift of your time by volunteering. If you enjoy gift wrapping and would like to give some of your time this holiday season, we are in need of gift wrappers for our upcoming gift wrapping fundraiser in December. Check out the flyer below for more information or go online to sign up. If gift wrapping isn't your thing, you can find other volunteer opportunities through our Volunteer Corps of Florence County program. Call 843-662-2407 or email flupo@uwflorence.org for more information.

5. Advocate
Although today is focused on giving, one other thing we are hoping to do through #GivingTuesday is to raise awareness about who we are and what we do for Florence County. If you aren't able to donate or volunteer today, you can still help support us by raising awareness by advocating on our behalf. Follow our social media and share our posts with your followers. Tell your friends and family about us. Encourage others to donate and volunteer. Even small, simple actions like these can have a huge impact for us and the community.
