United Way Announces New Executive Committee Positions
The United Way of Florence County (UWFC) is proud to announce the new Executive Committee positions for the 2017-2018 campaign year. John Cariati of Assurant Specialty has accepted the position of 2017-2018 Board Chair, Kevin Russell of GE Healthcare has accepted the position of 2017-2018 Campaign Chair, and Joe Craig of the Morning News has accepted the position of 2017-2018 Community Investment Committee (CIC) Chair.
The main responsibility for John Cariati as UWFC Board Chair is to govern the UWFC Board of Directors, but he will also be instrumental in determining the organization's main goals and objectives. John is currently employed as the Operational Quality Manager for Assurant and has been with the company for nine years. This is John's ninth year as a UWFC Board Member and his second year on the UWFC Executive Committee after serving as the 2016-2017 Campaign Chair.
"Giving back to the community has always been important to me and I believe serving as the United Way Campaign Chair will be an excellent way to give back to the thousands that are assisted through the United Way campaign," said Kevin. "We also wanted to focus on what United Way does for the community, which is why we selected the tagline 'Treasure Your Community with United Way.' When you donate to the United Way, your donations stay right here in Florence County. Every dollar given is making our community a better place."
While serving as the UWFC CIC Chair, Joe Craig will be responsible for governing the Community Investment Committee and providing direction on how funds should be allocated to the UWFC partner agencies. Joe is currently employed as the Publisher for the Florence Morning News and has been with the publication for just over two years. This is Joe's third year as a member of the CIC and his first year serving on the UWFC Board and in the position of CIC Chair.
"The United Way touches so many lives in so many ways," said Joe. "Being involved with the United Way of Florence County and the 17 community organizations they help support will allow me the chance to pay back some of the good will and fellowship my wife and I have experienced since moving here. I'm excited about it and intend to give it my best effort."
The United Way of Florence County would also like to recognize the other members of their Executive Committee: Past Board Chair, Quincy Kennedy of Signature Wealth Strategies; Treasurer, Dwayne Brockington of First Reliance Bank; Secretary, Kay Andrews of PGBA, LLC; and Nominations Chair, Frank "Buddy" Brand of Stifel.
