March, the UWFC held its Annual Luncheon & Awards Ceremony, the first step in recognizing and thanking our community partners who helped to make this year's campaign a $1.2 million success!
This year’s Annual Campaign theme, “the hero
inside,” truly applied to each and every person in attendance. As EJ Newby, President of the United Way of
Florence County noted, “everyone deserves a cape!.”
While
we did not give out capes, many local companies were recognized for
their fundraising achievements. See the full list here.
Also
recognized were those company and community partners that helped make this
year’s campaign a success through in-kind donations and consistent

Special
thanks were also sent to our local media agencies for their consistent coverage
of both our projects and the projects of our partnering agencies.
Our
Annual Campaign benefits 19 local agencies who rely on it for programmatic and
organizational funding – for some, we provide as much as 20% of their annual
budgets and nearly all of their
marketing and community awareness efforts.
At the Annual Luncheon & Awards Ceremony, Wendy Bird, Vice President
of Campaigns, was happy to announce the awards for those
companies and volunteer campaign leaders who went above and beyond in their "hero" duties during the
