EJ currently serves as President of United Way of Florence County. He previously served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Florence-Darlington Technical College Educational Foundation, and Vice President and Executive Director of the South Carolina State University Educational Foundation. He also worked at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, in several administrative, alumni, development and fund-raising positions to include Director of Development, Director of Annual Giving and Major Gifts Officer.
EJ received his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Virginia State University, and his Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of South Carolina. He is a graduate of the Nonprofit Management Program at Duke University. He is married to Attorney Mary P. Miles, and they have three sons.
Wendy Bird, Vice President of Campaigns
Wendy has been in employed with the United Way of Florence County since 1995. She recieved her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration- Marketing from Francis Marion University. She recieved an Associate of Arts Degree in Business Administration from Emmanuel College.
Wendy is a 1999 graduate of Leadership Florence. She is married to David Bird and they have two beautiful children.
Stephanie joined the United Way of Florence County team in February of 2011 with over 5 years of nonprofit experience. Most recently, she served as Operations Coordinator at the Barnabas Center, Inc. in Fernandina Beach, Florida and, prior to that, as Academic Coordinator at the MaliVai Washington Kids Foundation in Jacksonville, Florida.
Stephanie holds a BS of Foreign Service Degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. She recently moved to the Florence area with her husband, Brad, two young sons, JC & Seamus, and dog, Amos.
